Parent Teacher Association

The Newquay Junior Academy PTA are a group of parents, carers and teachers who meet every half term throughout the year to plan and organise fundraising events, and ways in which the academy community can be supported.

All parents/carers of pupils at NJA are automatically members of the PTA from when their child enters Year 3, as well as the hard working members of staff! This does not mean that we are expected 300+ families to attend PTA meetings but rather keep in touch through the social media page on Facebook or if you have a little time to spare around events, there are always tasks that need an extra pair of hands. For example: taking event admissions, serving teas/coffees at a car boot sale, preparing disco bags or hunting down raffle prizes.

We realise that time is precious so do not want to add pressure on you, however if you decided to become a more active member of the group, you are more than welcome to join in on our meetings. The current chairperson for the PTA is Mrs Jane Dewsnap, the treasurer is Mrs Debbie Cheadle (key worker and lunchtime supervisor).

Each year, the PTA fundraise in a variety of ways, which typically include: a winter and spring disco, a summer fayre, a Christmas fayre, refreshments at sports days and music events and competitions for the pupils to enter. These differ year on year depending on the availability in the academy calendar.

Each term, every year group in the academy make a bid for funds that the PTA have raised.

Purchases in 2024 include play time equipment and books for the library.
