‘Each for the good of the greater number’
At Newquay Junior Academy our core aim is to provide a safe, happy and challenging learning environment where everybody can experience success. We promote this through our core values of:
Ready Respectful Safe
We believe that our pupils should demonstrate these values every day by understanding what they can do to look after their local, national and global environment, by being prepared to take on difficult challenges and by always showing the kindness and respect that every member of our community deserves. In this way, we can all strive to become the best that we can be.
Newquay Junior Academy is a member of the Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) and lies in the heart of a thriving and growing coastal community. We value our location and pupils are taught to understand the importance of community cohesion. It is our belief that our pupils will make a positive contribution to the community in which they live. We also value parents and welcome their collaboration as part of our team, alongside staff and Governors.
We teach our pupils to become responsible, thinking citizens who can understand similarities and differences between people and recognise that everyone has a valued contribution to make to the academy community. We teach our pupils to have a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them and provide opportunities for learning about economic well-being and environmental issues on local and global scales.
We believe that our pupils should be proud ambassadors for the academy and its values, both historic and present. Due to its unique size, we aim to provide a broad base of skills amongst staff and deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum. Our pupils will always have opportunities to experience and showcase their wide range of talents, be it academic or otherwise. The close links to our local infant, primary and secondary schools will ensure our pupils achieve a cohesive experience during their whole learning journey.
As educators, we recognise that we are living in a rapidly changing world and we will prepare our pupils for the challenges of the future. We believe that every pupil needs to be equipped with the necessary skills in order to flourish with determination and confidence in the world of tomorrow. We believe that both the pupils and adults at Newquay Junior Academy should have a life-long love of learning; that it is the responsibility of all adults to foster enthusiasm and wonder in our pupils, so that they can aspire to achieve their hopes and dreams for the future. Our historic school motto echoes our belief that by working hard together, we can all reach our true potential.
